Hey there, I’m Susie. Welcome!
I’m Susie, an explorer of languages, cultures, and stories. Born and raised in Brazil, my given name is Silcia. But in 2001, while living in England, Susie became part of my identity, as if it had found its place in my story.
In my early adult life, I was a pastor’s wife and a missionary, serving in Bolivia, South Africa, and England. But in my late twenties, I set out on a new path—one that led me to discover my love for languages, teaching, and the richness of diverse cultures.
For the past 20 years, I have been teaching Portuguese and English as a Second Language, a journey that led me to New York in early 2022. While I remain a lifelong learner, my deepest dream is to become a writer, sharing stories that inspire and connect people across the world.
As Charles Dickens wrote in David Copperfield, “Whatever I have tried to do in life, I have tried with all my heart to do well.” That’s the spirit I bring to teaching, writing, and every pursuit in my life.
“ My meaning simply is, that whatever I have tried to do in life, I have tried with all my heart to do well; that whatever I have devoted myself to, I have devoted myself to completely; that in great aims and in small, I have always been thoroughly in earnest.” Charles Dickens, David Copperfield
